Unexpected news for Liverpool fans has arrived from Brazil, because when everything seemed to be going smoothly regarding the negotiations between the Anfield board and Fluminense for the signing of André Trindade, it seems that everything has fallen through and that, in the end, the young midfielder will not arrive at Liverpool, neither now nor in January as had been speculated.
A few weeks ago, André emerged as a possible candidate to reinforce Liverpool, after the tough negotiations between the Reds' board and Southampton to try to sign Romeo Lavia. It was then that the Brazilian emerged as an alternative if Lavia did not come to the club, which finally happened.
In recent days it had been reported that Liverpool and Fluminense were close to reaching an agreement for the signing of André and that even the transfer price would not be an obstacle, however what was holding up the arrival of the Brazilian defensive midfielder was that Fluminense did not want to lose him this summer due to his participation in the Copa Libertadores, the most important club tournament in South America, but they were willing to let him leave in January.
However, the Anfield board reportedly insisted they wanted to sign him this summer. It had been reported in the Brazilian press that Andre would have a termination clause of 40 million euros, but that in case Liverpool waited until January 2024, he would only cost them between 20 and 25 million, including 20% in a sell-on clause. But now it seems that everything has collapsed and that finally André would not play at Anfield.
According to ESPN Brasil, Liverpool made an offer of 30 million euros to sign André Trindade this summer, which was rejected by Fluminense. The TV channel reports that the feeling is that Liverpool will definitely withdraw from bidding again for the midfielder, and that they will not try again in January, so Jürgen Klopp will have to focus on other targets.
