It was a terrible weekend for Liverpool FC fans, who for 90 minutes experienced extreme feelings, from excitement to frustration. It was more than just three points at stake at the City Ground, as it was imperative that bottom side Nottingham Forest won and halted the Red's winning streak.

Taiwo Awoniyi's solitary goal not only frustrated manager Jürgen Klopp, who was on the bench in the final minutes of the game, but also highlighted the shortcomings that the Merseyside side have been suffering from since the start of the season, which has been one of the worst in recent years, with the Reds currently in 7th place on 16 points.

It's a disaster, Liverpool out of the Premier League title race and Klopp knows it

While The Pool's defence played a poor game, there was Joe Gomez who stole the limelight and even sarcastically bought up with Manchester United captain Harry Maguire, as the fierce rivals' defender has been one of the biggest disappointments of the Premiership, and Gomez played so poorly that Red's fans were quick to mock him.

The 25-year-old defender's rating by pundits and media alike was deplorable, stemming from the nervousness and poor positioning he displayed during the first quarter of the game, and Gomez even committed the unnecessary foul on Awoniyi that led to the caution and subsequently led to the Tricky Trees' first - and only - goal.

The former Charlton FC player's shortcomings have led to a barrage of cards, with three yellow cards in the last five games. Joe Gomez experienced a post-match nightmare as he took to Twitter to see the cascade of memes, criticisms and posts regarding his performance, with Liverpool fans themselves blaming Gomez for the tragic and embarrassing defeat.
