After failing to score against Liverpool, Haaland compared to Mexican player, not Chicharito

The Norwegian had a game to forget in ManCity's defeat at Anfield

Erling Haaland is the top player of the current 22/23 Premier League season with 15 goals, which have helped his club Manchester City to be in second place behind leaders Arsenal FC in the championship race. The game against Liverpool FC was the perfect stage for the Norwegian to show that he can be a factor against top teams, as most of his goals have come against mid-table teams.

Haaland, who was on the bench in the Champions League game in Denmark against Copenhagen FC, saw his side draw surprisingly against the home side, raising doubts for the next game on Merseyside. Premier League pundits were predicting that the Citizens would not only win, but beat the Red's due to the multiple absentees they have suffered this season.

During the broadcast of the match, many tweets were generated, including one from a Mexican journalist who became a trend in North America, where he compared Club America's striker Henry Martin to Erling Haaland, and even called for Mexican national team coach Gerardo Martino to start Martin in the World Cup, as his resemblance to Haaland is identical.

"Seriously now, Henry Martin is our Haaland, please I ask you only one thing right in your mandate, Gerardo Martino, he has to be there and be a starter in Qatar," said the Octava Sports broadcaster. Martin, who starred in the Liga MX championship and is currently in the Season 2022 Playoffs where he generated 15 goals, the same as Haaland alone has in the Premier League, but against Liverpool he simply cannot score.

Haaland continued to be a wet blanket against the Red's, where he went his second consecutive game without being able to do them any damage. Jürgen Klopp's strategy, coupled with tight marking in defence, neutralised the Norwegian, who once again experienced frustration in front of goal, the same feeling he had in the last FA Community Shield final, where he saw Liverpool lift the first title of the season.
