After that dramatic win over Ajax in the Champions League, the Reds have turned the page and are now looking ahead to their next fixture in October when they host Brighton in the Premier League Matchday 9 fixture, with Jurgen Klopp and his players focusing on the continuation of the competition and not on those remaining fixtures that will cause them a lot of headaches once they are rescheduled.
Liverpool were scheduled to face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday 10 September at Anfield, however, as is well known, all games last weekend were cancelled as a mark of respect following the unfortunate death of Queen Elizabeth II. The Reds' visit to Stamford Bridge on Sunday 18 September was also cancelled due to the limited number of police officers available in the area, and the game against Wolves was not the only one to be affected.

The World Cup in Qatar which kicks off on 20 November puts a heavy strain on long-running competitions such as the Premier League, with the Reds having to play a game every weekend and add one more to the list midweek after the September international break. With wholesale fixtures in the English league having to stop all activity for 12 and 13 November, Liverpool will have no time at all to play the pair of rescheduled fixtures.
Jurgen Klopp's side are currently in limbo as to when those games, which are matchdays 7 and 8, will take place. The only certainty is that English football will return for the fourth round of the League Cup in midweek on 20 December, just two days after there is a new world champion, before the Premier League resumes on Boxing Day with three blocks of fixtures over the festive period at the end of the year.
When you consider that Liverpool will be playing domestic cup, Champions League games, plus they will be forced into recess with the international break in September, the chances of paying for these games are reduced to just three midweek slots that were built into the Premiership season before the final day of the campaign on Sunday 28 May. However, those three slots are reserved to catch up on future fixtures that will need to be rearranged should a team reach the latter stages of the League Cup and FA Cup.
