French midfielder Manu Kone could be at the centre of Liverpool and Tottenham's attention in the January transfer window, according to reports from Rudy Galetti. Although the 22-year-old was unable to complete a move this summer, his departure from Borussia Monchengladbach could materialise next month for a fee in the region of €40m.
Liverpool have previously expressed interest in Kone, who attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs over the summer. Despite an injury complicating his potential transfer, Jurgen Klopp's side could reconsider the Bundesliga midfielder. Although Liverpool signed Ryan Gravenberch in place of Kone in the summer, interest in the talented Frenchman persists, although Klopp also has other priorities in mind.
Tottenham, meanwhile, may have a more urgent need to strengthen their midfield ahead of January. With the temporary absences of Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr, plus uncertainty over the future of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, manager Ange Postecoglou could see Kone as a valuable addition to his long-term plans.
Although PSG have also shown interest in Kone and a possible return to France is an option, the midfielder has previously expressed his penchant for the Premier League. The right price could be a determining factor in the decision making for both Liverpool and Tottenham as they evaluate options to bolster their ranks in the second half of the season. The Manu Kone situation will be a story to follow as the January transfer window approaches.
