During last weekend's match between Liverpool and Arsenal, there was a harsh action involving Bukayo Saka, Kostas Tsimikas and Jürgen Klopp. It was in the 35th minute when the Gunners' striker disputed a ball down the flank with the Greek defender, who was thrown into the Reds' manager and ended up on the ground.

At first it appeared to be a funny football play, until Tsimikas had to leave the game with severe pain in his shoulder, which was later confirmed as a broken collarbone. Upon learning of the extent of the injury, Saka issued a statement apologising and justifying his actions. "I heard that (Tsimikas) went to the hospital and obviously I want to apologise to him. It was not my intention. For me it was 50/50 and I have gone shoulder to shoulder with him. He must have had a bad fall. I didn't see it, I didn't see Klopp either. I didn't think it was a foul," was the message posted by the England player.

The news comes as another blow to the Anfield side who have turned into a hospital with eight casualties including Alexis Mac Allister, Thiago Alcantara and Andy Robertson, the latter of whom was replaced by Kostas Tsimikas and will be out of action for between six and eight weeks. Liverpool, who are in a fierce battle with Arsenal for the Premier League lead, will have to scour the market for a defender to replace the unfortunate injury.

Tsimikas reappears

In the last few hours, the Liverpool player reappeared in a photograph posted on his Instagram account in which he can be seen with a patch on his collarbone and up close with his two dogs. While there is still no definite date for his return to the field, it is expected that he will be able to play again before the end of the season.
