The Reds' revamp has had an unexpected result, for while it was believed that the team would not have the capacity to cope with the multiple and sensitive departures the team suffered last summer, it has only been a matter of time before the Reds have been able to bring in a new manager. However, it was only a matter of time before things became clearer on Merseyside, where Liverpool now have a much clearer picture.
After the Reds missed the opportunity to sign players such as Romeo Lavia, Moisés Caicedo and Andre Trindade, and in their place came an unknown Wataru Endo, who was worth a mere €20 million, the Japanese player made it clear that his quality is second to none.
Endo is not a player who tends to be the centre of attention, he could even go unnoticed, but he has a very good ability to defend and retrieve balls. Being a player who fulfils all his functions in a great way, giving great stability to the midfield, where his teammates can have more freedom and play more forward, as Endo generates enough security.
With what Endo gives a great lesson to all Premier League teams, where they pay for players who although they have a lot of potential do not end up performing as expected, Wataru had an inverse process, since not much was expected of him and he is being the revelation of the season, for his quality and his price.
While Chelsea or Arsenal spent in the last transfer window for players like Declan Rice €116.60 million what the Gunners paid for his transfer or in the case of the blues where they paid €116 million for Moises Caicedo and €62.10 million. While these players have done well, Wataru's value was much lower and he is performing at a high level, on par or perhaps even better than what the Gunners and Blues reinforcements have shown so far.
