This season has been full of big surprises, where Aston Villa has been the big surprise, as they are still in the top places, fighting for the top spot, ahead of Arsenal and at times Manchester City. In addition, Liverpool are still at a high level and are firm candidates to win the Premier League title, thanks to the excellent performance of many of their players.
Liverpool were looking for a renewal of the team and the players who have arrived have adapted very well, being so far Wataru Endo the big surprise because although good things were said about his great commitment, it was not until the end of the year that he could shine and show that he can be a fundamental piece in the scheme of Jürgen Klopp's game.
So upon his arrival on Merseyside, Endo arrived on a very low salary, being one of the lowest paid players in the squad, earning less than the team's third goalkeeper, the Spaniard has an annual salary of €3.120 million, while Endo only earns €2.600 million a year. This makes him the fifth lowest paid player on Merseyside, which is very unfair given the Japanese player's track record so far, who deserves to be on a much better salary.
This 2024 should undoubtedly be looking for a big improvement on the Japanese's salary, as his level has changed and he leaves great impressions. While he may not be one of the highest paid players at the club, his salary could be increased significantly. This would also give greater satisfaction to Wataru who will undoubtedly continue to improve.
Prior to Endo's arrival on Merseyside, the club were looking for a player who could cover for the loss of Jordan Henderson, so a defensive midfielder was needed. This led the Reds to look for options in the market with a very high value despite a very young age. However, after running out of his main options, Wataru arrived without much hype and for a fairly low price compared to his performance. He was undoubtedly one of the best reinforcements of the team.
