Arne Slot was effusive in his praise for Liverpool's performance, lamenting that they were not rewarded with three points in the 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. When asked if he had ever made a substitution that had such an immediate impact as this one...

"No, I don't think so. I don't remember. Although I don’t feel proud of the substitution because you make a substitution with a certain game plan in mind. In this situation, we brought on an attacker for a defender to play an even more attacking football than we were already playing because we needed a goal, or goals. Then, scoring from a set piece was not something I had in mind when I brought the two of them on, but of course, Jota can score a goal and Kostas has a good delivery from set pieces."

When asked if any area stood out that he would like to strengthen in the transfer window...

"I think today it was shown again that I can still strengthen the team or influence the game with the substitutes I have on the bench. It’s not the first time this season that these players have helped us, and I could contribute too. If you look at today, as I said, I couldn't have asked for more. What makes it difficult, and we’ve faced it not only against them but also against [Manchester] United, is that they play long balls, and they have some very good players for that. So, first of all, you have to make sure you win the first ball and then the second or third ball because they play the ball to Wood, who is a very strong man, and then they have these quick forwards who can also hurt you."

When asked if he believes Forest is a title contender...

"I already said before the match that after 20 games, you can judge the table much better than in the first five, six, seven, eight, nine, or 10 matches, and if you’re up there with us and the other teams... and I don’t think they’re here by luck. It’s tough for all teams to play against them. They’ve had some tough away games, with Manchester United away, Manchester City away, Arsenal away, us away, already playing against us twice. So, that shows they are a team that can compete for the upper end of the league table. I also think, but someone needs to tell me if I’m right, that they’ve had most of their players available for the entire season so far, so I see almost the same lineup, and that’s a quality for their coaching staff as well.
