The Uruguayan had had a bad first half, but by the second half he scored to make it 2-0

Uruguay's Darwin Nunez scored again for Liverpool in the Reds' Champions League win over Ajax, his second consecutive goal in the continent's top club competition, having scored against Celtic the previous day. The former Penarol, Almeria and Benfica, who had missed a clear chance minutes earlier by hitting the post, put in a superb header from a corner kick to send the ball into the back of the net.

Counting Premier League and Champions League, Darwin has four goals in his last five games. Against Rangers and Ajax in the Champions League and against Arsenal and West Ham in the Premier League. Darwin Núñez found it hard to adapt to Liverpool, not only because of the demands of a club like Anfield and English football, but also because of the pressure from the fans and the press due to the high price they paid for his contract and the constant comparison with Erling Haaland.

But little by little, the 23-year-old Uruguayan striker is gradually establishing himself in the Reds, especially after the memorable expulsion for a headbutt on an opponent in the match against Crystal Palace that cost him three dates of suspension and a lot of criticism. The Uruguayan, by dint of goals, is beginning to win over his detractors and is earning the praise of the footballing world match by match.

After the match against Ajax, there were several comments about Núñez's performance. The first was from teammate Andy Robertson, who stated that he was talking to him in the changing room at half time, although as the South American doesn't speak English, he doesn't know if he really understood him: 'I sat next to him (Darwin) in the changing room, I don't know if he understood a word I said, but I said I'll put a cross on your head and you'll score no problem. So maybe we need to say that more often!'

<strong>Luis Suárez gives advice to Núñez</strong>

It was Nunez himself who also revealed that Luis Suarez, an idol at Anfield, has spoken to him and given him advice on how to adapt quickly to the Premier League: "Luis told me that these things will happen in every game in the Premier League, that they'll come and find me, that they're going to bump into me, and that I need to make myself strong and not repeat my screw-up."
