The 2022/2023 UEFA Champions League season will enter its key moment. The Group Stage will culminate next week, when the 16 qualified clubs will be announced, with Liverpool FC one of them set to advance to the last 16 of the competition. The Reds will virtually go through as runners-up in Group A, as they would have to beat SSC Napoli, who have so far been a surprise package.

After putting an end to the embarrassing performance at the City Ground, where The Pool lost narrowly to Nottingham Forest in the Premiere League, the Anfield side focused on the most important competition at group level, where they travelled to Amsterdam to seal their passage and beat Ajax FC again in the section, where this time a powerful 0-3 scoreline calmed the doubts and criticism that has sustained the club throughout this season.

This weekend the Merseyside side will face Leeds United, after which they will continue at home to plan for the final Group Stage game against Italian side Napoli, who in the first game thrashed Klopp's side 4-1, and now, in front of the Reds' fans, they could exact sporting revenge and not only win, but return that thrashing from last September.

It is up to this moment with the teams qualified in first place, Liverpool could face Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Brugge and Real Madrid in the last 16. The draw to be held on 7 November in Nyon, Switzerland, then determines which clubs from the same country cannot play each other in the next round, so Group D leaders Tottenham, Group E leaders Chelsea and Group G leaders Manchester City could not face the Reds.

Real Madrid or Bayern, possible opponents in the last 16

Remember that this is the fifth consecutive occasion that Jürgen Klopp's team has reached the next round, remembering the recent sixth Champions League in the 18/19 season, where little by little the club was taking shape and beating strong opponents, until winning the Cup against Tottenham Hotspur in Lisbon, Portugal. From that final, world superstars still survive and are looking to repeat the glory with Liverpool.
