After Liverpool's 4-3 win over Tottenham, Jurgen Klopp's side could finally climb up the table to fifth on 56 points, but even with a momentary Europa League berth, the Merseyside giants still want to continue their push for Champions League qualification.
With the Premier League table being very tight, a draw or defeat for any of these institutions could spell doom for the Reds, who are in precisely that group even though they have a Europa League ticket in their hands, and both the manager and players must understand that before thinking about the Champions League they must secure that fifth place and not think big like Tottenham, who have lost any chance of reaching Europe's top competition next season.
If the Reds can hold off all those teams fighting for fifth place, Klopp and his players can only think about the Champions League if they keep up their winning run, although of course that has to be coupled with a poor end to the season from Manchester United or Newcastle, who continue to win their games in emphatic fashion.
With 15 points still to play for and a seven-point gap between them and the fourth-placed Reds Devils, the Merseyside outfit could know their fate in three more games. If United or Newcastle fail to beat them, the margin for manoeuvre will be even smaller than it is at the moment, and the Reds must accept that their best option is to fight to keep their ticket to the Europa League rather than risk everything for a Champions League that looks a long way off.
