One of European football's top young talents is reportedly edging ever closer to joining Jürgen Klopp next season. The player in question is Dominik Szoboszlai, who plays for RB Leipzig. A long-standing desire of some Premier League teams, the summer of 2023 would finally be the summer of his departure from the Bundesliga. "The termination clause allowing Dominik Szoboszlai to leave for a fixed price of around £60m (around €70m) expires today. Liverpool have decided to make a move," reports The Times.
In England they claim that the 22-year-old Hungarian "wants to play under Jürgen Klopp" and the Reds are favourites to land his services. According to The Athletic, "Real Madrid and PSG had already been interested in the 22-year-old, but he has now given Liverpool the go-ahead. After the deal looked difficult following a meeting earlier in the week, the dynamic has changed in the last 24 hours and Liverpool appear to have been given confidence that it is possible".
Two seasons after swapping Salzburg for Leipzig, and having scored 10 goals and shared 12 assists in 2022/2023, Dominik Szoboszlai is closer than ever to packing his bags and heading to the Premier League. But The Athletic reported that "Liverpool and Leipzig are already in talks. Fábio Carvalho's loan move to the Bundesliga club is expected to be completed today, Friday. And that is why it was inevitable that the subject of Dominik Szoboszlai would come up".
A transfer that the Germans have already made official. "Liverpool's Fábio Carvalho joins the Red Bulls on a one-year loan until June 2024, the club said. The 20-year-old plays in attacking midfield and can be used in all positions - welcome to Leipzig, Fábio!" the RB Leipzig statement said. The Portuguese has failed to make a name for himself in the Reds' midfield despite injuries: 21 appearances, eight starts and three goals.
