The Reds will continue to rely on a player who brings them nothing to the table

This morning it was made official that English defender Joe Gomez has renewed his contract with Liverpool's first team. The 25-year-old arrived from Charlton Athletic in 2015 and has since made 142 appearances for the Anfield side.

However, he is a player who is not a regular in Jürgen Klopp's starting eleven and his statistics show it. From 2015 to date, he has only played 87 Premier League games, and last season he made an appearance in only eight games.

Blind faith in him

One thing to note is the confidence the coach has in him. “Joe is an outstanding talent. He is also an outstanding defender and an outstanding human being. He has so many qualities, I could talk about them all day, so knowing that he will continue his journey with us is a massive boost – one that everyone who loves Liverpool FC and cares about its present and future should be unbelievably happy about." said to Liverpoolfc.com
