Being compared to a Liverpool legend is not easy for players who have just arrived at the club, as they often fall short of those expectations and end up being big failures. Such is the case of Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo, who arrived at Anfield a year ago from Juventus with the promise of becoming one of the best midfielders in the world.
A product of FC Barcelona's youth academy and compared at the time to the stars of that team, the expectations for Arthur were always too high. Juventus even paid 80 million euros for him in 2020 only to let him go on loan to Liverpool two years later, and after a disappointing campaign at Anfield, he returned to Italy where the coach of his team told him that he did not count on him and that he should look for a new team.
Thus, the player who was once compared to the legendary Steven Gerrard and who had a maximum value of 70 million euros, must now look for a team that is willing to pay him a high salary if he wants to continue playing in top-level football, because according to several reports, Arthur's priority is to stay in the Premier League, where he has apparently already found a team interested in him.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Wolverhampton would be interested in signing Arthur this summer and would use the money left from the sale of Ruben Neves to get him. In this way, the former Liverpool player could remain in the Premier League although he would do it in a team that will fight to avoid relegation.
