The Pharaoh had a terrible time

Mohamed Salah is undoubtedly one of the best players in the world, his presence at Liverpool from 2017 revolutionised the way the club played, leading to major international titles. But this version of the Pharaoh was not always like this, as he also had dark passages throughout his career, Stanford Bridge being one of them.

In a recent interview with Dubai Eye, former Nigerian footballer John Obi Mikel said that during his time at Chelsea he witnessed one of the most tense moments in his career. When Jose Mourinho was in charge of the Blues, he was known for being a tough, prepossessing manager who humiliated his players, Egypt star Mo Salah being one of them.

Obi Mikel recalls that one Premier League game, where things were not going well, the Portuguese manager went into the dressing room where he unloaded all his anger on a young Mohamed Salah who had little time at the club. "Mourinho made Salah cry at half-time. He smashed him for playing badly in the 1st half," the African mentioned.

Salah was in London from 2014 to 2016, where he was unable to make roots as he was loaned to Serie A sides Fiorentina and AS Roma, the latter being the one who made good on the option to buy and transferred him in August 2016 for around €13 million; a year later the Reds would pay €42 million for the African, being one of the club's best decisions in recent years.
