Strong comment, Carragher makes it clear who will be Klopp's replacement

Everyone has an opinion on who should be the next Liverpool manager and the club’s former defender Jamie Carragher has added his name to the growing support for Xabi Alonso. The Bayer Leverkusen boss is the favorite with the bookmakers to get the gig and many Reds fans believe he is the right man for the job.

Carragher agrees. "For me, if we’re talking about who should come in, I think it should be Xabi Alonso,” he said on The Overlap. “He is very inexperienced in management, having managed just sixty or seventy games, but what you would have straight away is the club on side.”

Whether FSG believes that to be enough remains to be seen, but Carragher also highlighted Alonso’s schooling and it’s certainly impressive. “You think of the managers he’s been managed by: Carlo Ancelotti, Rafa Benitez, Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola, and the football they play. He’s the type of guy that if he came in, he’d have the crowd straight away." It’s certainly a compelling case.

Salah is available

With Egypt having been knocked out of the Cup of Nations, Mohamed Salah is free to return to Liverpool duty. The only issue is that he is currently injured. The good news for the Reds and their fans is that Salah has provided a second encouraging update about his recovery this week. Liverpool’s number 11 posted a photo from the AXA Training Ground on Wednesday and followed that up today with a video on his Instagram story. He can be seen running back and forth on his own, suggesting that while he won’t be ready for the match at Arsenal on Sunday, his return shouldn’t be too far away.
