Liverpool moved five points ahead of Arsenal and Manchester City in the Premier League table with Jürgen Klopp's first win away at Brentford. Darwin Núñez was in a confident mood and he and Diogo Jota both had acres of space on the counter-attack to open the scoring. Núñez never really inspires confidence when he is running through on goal; you just never quite know what you're going to get with him. This time, though, he was emphatic. That was the kind of finish he was going regularly when Liverpool saw him at Benfica but it hasn't really happened enough since he moved to Anfield.

Losing Jones and then Jota was not a good sign at all for Liverpool. Just when the fixtures are going to really mount up, there could be a midweek fixture every week until the end of the season from here, both key men limped off. Jones has been vital in controlling things in the middle of the pitch and Jota scores and assists goals regularly. Salah is back but as ever, it's a case of one in and at least one out for Klopp at the moment.
